Colon Surgery #7
Donation protected
Colon surgery #7 is being scheduled . It will be an open abdominal surgery. They will use my previous midline scar to open me up. Then they will cut out all of the scar tissue and take out all of my small bowel to see if they can find any functional deformities that might be causing all these bowel obstructions. He also mentioned securing the small bowel to my abdominal wall. He did say he may have to remove more small bowel which is discouraging because we don’t know the effect it will have on my body since I have so little left. While he has me open he is going to revise my stoma once again since the one he did in November has inverted back in. He expects me to be there a 10-14 days. It was sent in to insurance today so as soon as it is approved we will be moving forward.
As you can imagine the financial hardship that comes with staying 10-14 days in another state (10.5 hours away). From being hospitalized every two weeks for bowel obstructions, the expense of home health weekly, feeding tube daily and the astronomical bill from May, any unforeseen large expenses such as another surgery sets us back even with Ben working two jobs.
If you can donate towards Ben’s hotel expense (as they don’t allow overnight visitors) plus our food that would greatly take some financial burden off of us. They do feed me hospital food but it’s a really weird timeframe and I can’t wait till 9pm on dinner or 2pm for lunch. With short bowel syndrome I have to eat frequent meals so I have to eat out as well. We plan to get Angel Flight on board to assist with the flights. Right now we just need help with hotels and food. If you have hotel points for free nights that works just as well.
If you can’t donate at this time prayers work just as well and please please share this. You are very much appreciated.
