In 2 weeks we are going to another outreach, and this time we are taking a bigger team with us to Colombia!

In Colombia we will be working with children and families affected by the problems and challenges in the nation, street children, schools, people in economical difficulties, young people with drug addiction problems, and with real spiritual and material needs. Our outreaches always aim to bring practical help, emotional support, and tools for tranformation in the areas we travel to. We will be travelling to cities and villages, getting to know people and places that will teach us and give us a greater understanding on culture, religion, politics, beliefs, and much more. The idea of our outreaches is always to serve the local people in ways that will bless them and we hope to bring something with us that will mark their lives.

We have been part of YWAM for many years serving as full time volunteers. Over the years we have had the opportunity to go to many countries with the purpose of serving others in their needs. YWAM is an international Christian missionary movement where each missionary needs to fund their mission trips.

We are leading a DTS, Discipleship Training School, one of our many programs. At the moment we are finishing a 3 months lecture phase and as part of the program there is a 2 months long practical phase called outreach where we take the trainees to different countries to put in practise what they have learned in the class room.

Jhon and I have been able to cover some of our expenses through different support and jobs that have brought us some income. We are now working on raising the rest of the funds for the expenses for our time in Colombia while we still will need to cover our rent in London and a few other bigger financial needs we have in this season.

Colombia is a nation that will truly be a beautiful experience for our team, but also a time where we will be able to visit places that need help. We do not want to have only a nice memory of doing good things, but our desire is that Colombians will teach us a new perspective to life. Our goal is to have an eyeopening time to learn in Colombia those deep and meaningful things we couldn't learn back home in our countries.

With these funds raised, we will be able to cover our flights to Colombia, bus tickets and transportation in Colombia, meals, accomodation, essential things such as clothes for hot climate, and personal items needed for travelling.

2 viikon päästä lähdemme uudestaan matkaan, ja tällä kertaa otamme mukaan isomman tiimin Kolumbiaan!

Kolumbiassa tulemme työskentelemään maan ongelmista ja haasteista kärsivien lasten ja perheiden parissa, katulasten kanssa, peruskouluissa, taloudellisissa vaikeuksissa olevien parissa, huumeiden väärinkäyttöongelmista kärsivien nuorten kanssa, joilla kaikilla on todellisia henkisiä ja aineellisia tarpeita. Yhteistyömme tavoitteena on aina tuoda käytännön apua, emotionaalista tukea ja työkaluja alueille, joille matkustamme. Matkustamme kaupunkeihin ja kyliin, tutustumme ihmisiin ja paikkoihin, jotka opettavat meille antaen meille paremman ymmärryksen kulttuurista, uskonnosta, politiikasta, uskomuksista ja paljon muusta. Näiden matkojen tarkoituksen on aina palvella paikallisia ihmisiä tavalla, joka on heille siunaukseksi ja avuksi, ja toivomme tuovamme mukanamme jotain, mikä merkitsee heidän elämälleen mahdollisimman paljon.

Olemme olleet osa YWAM:ia useiden vuosien ajan kokopäiväisinä vapaaehtoistyöntekijöinä. Vuosien varrella meillä on ollut mahdollisuus matkustaa moniin maihin palvellaksemme muita heidän tarpeissaan. YWAM on kansainvälinen kristillinen lähetysliike, jossa jokaisen työntekijän on rahoitettava lähetysmatkansa.

Olemme vetämässä Opetuslapseuskoulua, joka on yksi monista kursseistamme. Tällä hetkellä olemme lähes 3 kuukauden luentojakson lopussa ja osana ohjelmaa on 2 kuukauden mittainen käytännön jakso nimeltä aktio, jossa viemme harjoittelijat eri maihin laittamaan käytäntöön luokkahuoneessa oppimaansa.

Jhon ja minä olemme pystyneet kattamaan osan kuluistamme eri avustusten ja lahtoitusten sekä lisätöiden kautta, jotka ovat tuoneet meille tuloja. Nyt meillä on vielä haasteena kerätä loput varat Kolumbian kuluihin, vuokramme Lontoossa ja muutama muu isompi rahoitustarpeemme.

Kolumbia tulee olemaan todella kaunis kokemus tiimillemme, mutta myös aika, jolloin voimme vierailla paikoissa, jotka tarvitsevat apua. Emme halua vain hyvää muistoa hyvien asioiden tekemisestä, mutta toiveemme on, että kolumbialaiset opettaisivat meille uuden näkökulman elämään. Tavoitteemme on saada silmiä avaava aika oppia Kolumbiassa niitä syviä ja merkityksellisiä asioita, joita emme voi omissa kotimaissamme oppia.

Näillä kerätyillä varoilla pystymme kattamaan lentolippumme Kolumbiaan, bussimatkat ja kuljetuksen Kolumbiassa, ruokailun, majoituksen, pakolliset ostokset matkaa varten kuten vaatteita kuumaan ilmastoon, sekä henkilökohtaisia tavaroita, joita tarvitsemme matkalle.
