About Our Campaign & Who We Are
A devastating earthquake recently struck Colombia, leaving thousands of families in urgent need of support. While major cities and larger towns are beginning to receive aid, smaller, rural communities are being overlooked.
Villages like Trujillo, Salónica, Roldanillo, Cerro Azul, Fenicia, and Andinápolis—along with many other remote towns—are struggling without basic resources or the means to rebuild.
Hits Close to Home
This cause isn't just news to us—it is deeply personal. My name is Carlos Loaiza. I am originally from Tuluá, Valle del Cauca, Colombia, and I currently live in New Haven, Connecticut.
I am a co-owner of UpLine LLC, an Ultimate Frisbee company based out of New Haven, CT, which is proudly owned by three Colombians. Seeing our home region suffer this tragedy moves us to act. Ultimate Frisbee has always been about community, and right now, our community in Colombia needs us. We are stepping up to ensure direct aid reaches families who need it most, no matter how remote they are.
How Funds Will Be Transferred and Spent
To ensure complete transparency and meet GoFundMe’s verification guidelines, here is exactly how your donations will be managed, transferred, and utilized:
Fund Transfer & Flow: All donations will be withdrawn directly into our US business account (UpLine LLC) here in New Haven, CT. From there, funds will be wired directly to Cristian Guerrero, co-owner of UpLine LLC, who is leading our boots-on-the-ground team directly in Colombia.
Immediate Essentials: Purchasing food hampers, clean water, clothes, and baby formula for displaced families.
Rebuilding Materials: Buying roofing sheets, cement, timber, and basic tools locally in Colombia to deliver directly to families restoring their homes.
Emergency Supplies: Direct procurement of first aid kits, hygiene supplies, and temporary shelter items.
Why Rural Villages Need Our Help Now
Emergency response teams naturally focus on high-density areas first. However, infrastructure in mountain and rural regions like Valle del Cauca was fragile even before the earthquake. Many families here have lost their homes, their livestock, or their livelihoods, and they are facing long delays for official government assistance.
By targeting smaller towns directly, we ensure the impact goes where aid is slowest to arrive.
Full Transparency & Proof of Impact
We believe in complete transparency. As funds come in and Cristian’s team purchases and distributes aid on the ground:
Proof of Delivery: Photos and video updates of deliveries to these rural communities will be posted directly to our social media channels.
Receipts & Accounting: Purchase receipts for supplies and building materials will be shared so you can see exactly where every dollar goes.
Follow Our Journey: Follow us on social media to watch the real-time impact your donations are making for these families.
How You Can Help
Donate: No amount is too small. A contribution of $15 can feed a family for several days, while $50 can provide critical building supplies.
Share: Spread the word by sharing this link with your teammates, friends, family, and on social media.
Thank you for standing with us and the people of Colombia during this critical time. Together, we can help these families rebuild their lives and homes.
