Help Colm & Josh in Their Service to the Dominican Republic

Colm and Josh are both really excited to serve the people of the Dominican Republic!

They will be participating in the Volunteer Hospital Program’s March mission to provide ophthalmologist care directly to those who need it most. As trained surgical technologists, Colm and Josh will provide operational support to the doctors on the trip, but between flights and room and board, attending will pose a significant expense.

The Dominican Republic faces a critical need for cataract missions because over 30,000 citizens suffer from treatable blindness, yet many remain unaware that surgery is an option. Significant barriers like low national health spending and high personal costs prevent the most vulnerable populations from accessing care through the traditional system. By providing free procedures, organizations like VHP help families escape poverty by restoring the independence and productivity of both patients and their caregivers. Ultimately, these missions fill a vital gap by delivering cost-effective interventions and specialized training to regions where modern eye care is otherwise unavailable.

Anything helps! We are grateful for you taking the time to read about this wonderful opportunity we have been given.
