Southland Collie Rescue doesn't know Magnar's original name or his true age. He is estimated to be a senior dog of 7 or 8. What we do know is that at one time in his life this purebred sable and white collie was loved. He was trained. He once had a major surgery. How he ended up in a dog meat market marked for death, we'll never know. We do know he needs help and fast! First, he needs major surgery. Then he needs a plane ticket for Southern California where he'll be safe in the arms of Southland Collie Rescue.
Magnar was destined for a dog meat market in China when Southland Collie Rescue's contact pulled him. While his limp was obvious, only x-rays provided the harsh reality.
The surgery that his once beloved family got him on his leg has failed, leaving two drifting bones. There is no other choice. His leg will need to be amputated.

That's when we got the call from No Dogs Left Behind (NDLB), SCR's contact in China. Would we sponsor the surgery to have this sweet senior boy's leg amputated? And would we work with them to get him to the states to live out his life safe from harm, healed of his wounds and loved forever? Of course we said yes! They had us once we saw that beautiful collie nose. That lovely nose was meant for kisses. And Magnar needs them now more than ever.
NDLB cannot afford the cost of the amputation surgery ($2500). The estimated cost of transporting Magnar to the US is an additional $2990. Once he is here, we know the rest of the vet bills will mount. He will need physical therapy and massive dental work to begin with. We need at least $6000 to get him a safe amputation surgery in China at a reputable vet, and then, when he is ready, we need to fly him to Los Angeles. The $6000 is just the beginning. You can help give Magnar the new beginning he deserves.

Please help us reach our goal of $6000. This beautiful old boy deserves to finally be in the loving arms of a family again.
Donations accepted through GoFundMe or directly through Southland Collie Rescue (Paypal, credit card and checks ). Be sure to earmark funds for Magnar.
PLEASE NOTE: Should anything happen during surgery or should there be a surplus in donations, all funds raised will go to help other collies rescued by SCR. Checks can be sent to:

Magnar was saved once, but without help from SCR, our partner organization cannot afford the surgery that Magnar needs nor the therapy he'll require to adjust to life on three paws. Help us save Magnar and give this senior collie the golden years he deserves.
Southland Collie Rescue is a registered 501C non-profit, based in Southern California. Our mission is rescuing every Southern California collie in need. We take in, care for and find loving homes for every purebred collie, and, when we can, collie mixes. These collies are pulled from shelters, found abandoned or given up directly by owners. Each rescued collie is spayed or neutered, brought up-to-date on vaccinations and checked for health and temperament before being placed in carefully checked homes.
