Help keep The Paper Escape in business

Dan Smith Jr. died less than two years after achieving a life-long dream: to own his own gaming store.  Dan was an avid gamer and a devoted family man.  He left behind a family that cared deeply for him and depended on him.  His wife and children want to keep his dream alive by taking over his store The Paper Escape.

The Paper Escape has been a iconic store in downtown Dixon, Illinois for almost 40 years.  Dan and his wife, Kerri, invested their future in the purchase of this store.  It was a dream come true for a family that spent as much time as possible together.
Dan had taken on the burden of ordering, stocking, remodeling, advertising, inventorying, and so many other things that go into running a business; but now that is on Kerri. She is now forced to work her regular job while trying to learn all of these intricacies of running a business.  Not only that, she has to care for her household and soon to be multiple grandchildren, all the while being the lone anchor of the family.  She is doing her best with help of her children, but it is a hard thing to learn.

Sammy, their youngest daughter, just graduated high school.  Class of 2020, Class of "Covid-19".  She had no graduation ceremony, no prom, no normal.  She didn't get to be with her father as he passed due to the Covid-19 restrictions. They kept her and the rest of her family, including Kerri, from being there.  We want to help restore some normal to them, to provide some relief from the enormous amount of stress that has been placed on their shoulders. Two years at the local community college, Sauk Valley College, will get her an associates degree in business. It will give her a fighting chance to relieve her mother of the stress she is under while helping support the family.  We all want nothing more than to give this family an opportunity to keep Dan's dream, which is now their dream, and The Paper Escape alive.
Our goal is $10,000.  That will cover tuition for two years, books, a computer, and hopefully any other expenses that may come up. It will give them hope. It will give them a chance at their now shared dream: The Paper Escape
