My Senior College Thesis

Donation protected
My name is Justice Pate and I am a Senior in my last year at New York Film Academy pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts.  I graduated from Dekalb School of the Arts in Atlanta and started this journey acting in church programs, taking acting classes and performing in my own imagination since the age of 5.

The arts and more importantly film, have enhanced my life in such an impactful way.  There were moments where a movie helped me escape from a difficult situation and showed me how to handle the everyday stresses of life.  I was able to become a superhero in an instant and was encouraged to believe in love, life and the pursuit of it all. Movies have helped me travel to places that only exist in my imagination, and helped me detox from the everyday.  They inspired me as a child to dream big and imagine the unimaginable. As an adult, they allow me to see the world from others’ points of view. They keep me laughing and imagining. I am thankful that my parents have embraced my love for film and filmmaking, and supported my dream by sending me to study here in L.A. and learn all the components. Both in front of the camera as well as behind it.

This year, in order to graduate with a BFA, (and top 1% of my class as well as Dean’s List), I have the privilege of producing my own short film for my senior thesis and I need your help!

I will write, produce, manage and direct this short film with full cast and crew, as well as act in it myself! This is a costly endeavor.  I am looking for your support to make it the best film possible, and asking those that have been impacted by this industry to support my dream of making a difference with it.  My piece will center around a young man who has to escape the power of social media and outside influences and images in order to become who he is destined to be. He works as a comedian but wants more out of life and is challenged to grow into a big goal.  I want to use this piece to help others reconsider what is important in life so that we can live genuinely with each other and develop true relationships and connections, REAL connections, not digital ones.

Any amount will help and thank you in advance for your support!  My goal is to fund the project by February 20th, 2020. See you on the big screen.
