My name is Evita, and I live in Fort Collins, Colorado, USA. I am here to tell you a story about my niece, Maeve.
Maeve, a high school graduate from Jakarta Indonesia, went through a crushing rejection after applying for acceptance to Jakarta’s public university. To make matters worse Maeve’s parents lost their small business and source of income due to the economic impact of COVID-19 in Indonesia. The changes left Maeve’s family financially unstable and unsure of Maeve’s future.
Then a spot of bright shining news came. Recently Maeve received confirmation of her acceptance to study at the REIMS university in France. Along with that good news is that tuition is covered. Unfortunately, due to her family’s loss of income, they are struggling to come up with necessary additional funds to make this wonderful opportunity a reality for her.
Maeve is a bright strong-willed young lady who speaks Bahasa Indonesia, French, Korean, English, and Spanish, and is known for excelling in many extracurricular activities. Maeve is hard working, mature, thoughtful of others, and has an unwavering desire to pursue higher education. Maeve believes college education for women in Indonesia is crucial for change in the male-oriented culture. Maeve’s primary life goal is to complete a university degree, be a role model for young women in Indonesia, and to help take care of her family.
This gofundme campaign is to help Maeve realizes her dream by not passing up the REIMS university opportunity. To achieve Maeve’s goal, she will need assistance in funding college living expenses for her freshman year and to cover her plane flight to France. We estimate Maeve will need approximately $15000 to cover her freshman year expenses. Maeve is also organizing with REIMS university to line up part-time work while she is attending school. The funds from this gofundme campaign will make it possible for Maeve to save for the following semester's living expenses and to give her parents time to work on stabilizing their income. By helping Maeve today in her time of need she will be one extremely important step closer to realizing her dreams.
