College Fund for Sui's kids: in her loving memory

Donation protected
Friends in the community, I am sorry to share the news that Sui Tong Montalto, after an extended battle with cancer, died on Sunday, January 23, 2022.

If you brought your kids to Union Church Playgroup in the last decade (until COVID started), you knew Sui. She carried your stroller. She gave your kids snacks. She chatted with you about a million mom and dad worries.

If your kids went to PS 104, you knew Sui, an active member of the PTA. If they danced at Beyond Dance, Sui was dance mom-ing right along with you. If you knitted or spent time in the Bookmark Shoppe, you probably chatted with Sui at one point or another about making beautiful things.

If your kids went to McAuliffe and tied ribbons there for childhood cancer, or painted rocks for Bay Ridge Rocks, they were joining activities Sui brought to the school.

If you have ever spent time mentioning how BRP has changed, wishing we could go back to the “old days” in the group, then you’re missing the years when Sui was one of the group admins, helping to keep the group running smoothly and keep everyone on track being kind to each other as we shared our parenting concerns.

Sui leaves behind a loving husband and two wonderful kids, one finishing middle school, the other midway through high school.

If you want to say goodbye to someone truly amazing and beloved in Bay Ridge, or if you want to say thank you to someone who quietly touched so many lives in our community, please contribute to this fund to give a gift towards college expenses for her two children. Education was important to Sui, and I can think of no gift more meaningful to her memory than one that supports her kids in this way.

Sui was our dear friend, and we are going to miss her so very much.
