Xochitl was kicked out of her house last year and has been living with us ever since. She's been working so hard to start her life out from under an abusive home and college is her main way to do that. She got accepted into San Francisco State University, and got into the dorms, and applied for and financial aid - all of which is great. She has a full ride for tuition but has to take out about $10,000 in loans, part of which ($6,000 or so) are unsubsidized. We are setting up this GoFundMe to replace the unsubsidized loan which accrues interest from the get-go. Xochitl is working to make some money that will cover some of her basic living expenses for the coming year, but her summer earnings wont be enough to pay down her ever growing loan. Every dollar you can donate will be one less that she has to borrow. This money is critical to keep her out of the student debt hole, which can be so hard to crawl out of, especially for homeless students. Help us give Xochitl a real shot at finishing college.
