Colleen's medical costs from bone cancer surgery

Hi, my name is Katelynn and I am fundraising to help my younger sister, Colleen, offset some of the many bills and other expenses she has to pay associated with this major surgery.

In December Colleen was diagnosed with a type of bone cancer called chondrosarcoma and immediately sought medical attention from Mass General Oncology. The plan of action to remove the cancer requires a major surgery. This surgery will involve a 3 month long recovery process before she can begin to transition back to independent living and a modified work schedule. During her recovery time, she will be living with my parents and I am so grateful we live just a few minutes away, so she will have visits galore from her favorite niece and nephew! Since her goal will be to transition back to independent living after recovery, she will still need to pay rent for her apartment while eating all of mom's yummy cooking back at home!

For those that don't already know and love our Dr. Colleen Quinn Kelly, she is the greatest younger (can't say little because she reminds me she's taller) sister in the world! She also happens to be the most wonderful Godmother to my daughter and one of those fun aunts kids always talk about! Colleen is a physical therapist and has always been very active and makes all those good healthy choices the rest of us save for our New Year's resolutions we have no intentions of keeping. At 30 years young, bone cancer was incredibly unexpected.

And yet here we are, and here I am, asking people that may know us and our family and hoping it may reach those who don't know us, but after reading this, are compelled to help.

The money raised will go towards; the cost of her major surgery, the costs for transportation (gas, MGH parking) for the frequent appointments she has, cost for very frequent MRIs (current insurance has them at $2k EACH and she needs them for the next 15 years), general bills (since she can't work and was denied STD so no income for 3 months plus), rent, hospital stay and follow up care costs.
