Colleen's Fight- Fight Like a Nurse

Our dearest friend and co-worker Colleen Carpenter has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

Colleen has been working as a nurse for 21 years, spending the majority working in the ICU caring for the sickest of the sick. She has not only been a leader and a mentor but also has become a wonderful friend to many of the people that have been blessed to work alongside her.

Colleen has had a special place in my heart ever since I started at Providence Park as a Nurse. When I first met Colleen she was like a mother to me, always making me work harder for the answers I wanted, supporting me when I questioned myself and being there for me at ANY moment. She is so intelligent, kind and compassionate, all things a nurse strives to be. She is someone I hold very close to my heart.

She was one of the most admirable people to watch during the Covid-19 pandemic, which the ICU and hospital were fighting hard, unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. She jumped into the line of fire without hesitation, she would go out of her way to make sure her patients were never alone during the last minutes of their lives. The pandemic changed our lives in so many ways but one thing that always remained was Colleen’s spirit, she never gave up. She is truly an angel on earth and she deserves to have each and every one of us in her corner.

Aside from being a full time-outstanding nurse she is a full time mother and a wife. A dedicated, encouraging and loving mother that is always there to support her kids in all they do, Zoe with her competitive dance and Joey with hockey. She has traveled long and far to cheer them on, to be their number 1 fans.

I ask everyone who knows Colleen and those who don’t to help me in my efforts to show her that we are all her number 1 fans and that we are here to support, encourage and cheer her on during this next season.

I ask that we pray to spread love and hope, to bring comfort and peace to the Carpenter family. I ask that we pray to promote a healing environment for Colleen as she begins treatment.

Most importantly I ask that we pray to give Colleen strength while she fights this battle, to give her reassurance that we are all-in for her! In this family, no one fights alone!

The Lord is with you, mighty warrior -Judges 6:12
