Colleen Mae crushes chemo in Czech
Donazione protetta
Beautiful, brave, brilliant Colleen Mae is on to her latest adventure - chemotherapy for colon cancer while living in a foreign country where she doesn't speak (much) of the local language.
In November, after a routine colonoscopy, Coll learned that she had some very early cancerous growth that would require surgery to remove that section of her colon and a few of the surrounding lymph nodes. Despite a few frustrating delays, she had the surgery on Mon Jan 20, being operated on by the chief of surgery and best physician in the Czech Republic. All went perfectly, and her recovery from the surgery, while painful, has been progressing without complications.
In early Feb, she learned that, of the 19 lymph nodes they removed, 4 of them showed some spread of the cancer from the original site. Thus, despite hoping that the surgery would be the only necessary step to address and heal this disease, she'll be moving forward with a round of chemotherapy.
There is no one more adventurous than our gorgeous girl. We are so grateful she's getting such high quality care, and is in a place where the benefits are so comprehensive. Nonetheless, a treatment journey like chemo is inherently exhausting and isolating, and those effects are compounded by being so far from her friends and family in North America.
We've started this page to bring as much of that love together in one place as we can. We welcome your donations to help with the logistics of care, and we'll be sharing updates and stories as they arrive.
Love you all.
