My sister Colleen has recently been diagnosed with invasive breast cancer.

In the coming weeks, she will undergo a double mastectomy, followed by further treatment.

As many of you know, the journey through cancer is not only physically grueling, but emotionally and financially overwhelming.

Colleen is a Registered Massage Therapist and owner of a small clinic.

For over 20 years, she’s poured her heart and soul into caring for others, clients, family, and friends alike.

Her healing hands and open heart have been a source of strength for so many.

She listens deeply, comforts without judgment, and always shows up with compassion.

Now, Colleen needs us to show up for her.

As a self-employed single mother of two teenage boys, Jamie (18) and Stirling (16) Colleen doesn't have access to paid sick leave or medical Employment Insurance.

Though she does have disability insurance, it won’t start until 90 days after she finishes work and even then, it will only cover about 1/4 of her monthly expenses.

Since her diagnosis six weeks ago, she’s continued working as much as possible, but the emotional and physical toll has become too great. She’s had to make the painful but necessary decision to stop working effective immediately and focus on her health.

We’re raising funds to help Colleen cover her monthly living expenses, rent, utilities, bills, groceries so she can concentrate on healing instead of worrying about how to make ends meet during this incredibly difficult time.

Colleen has spent her life giving to others. Now it’s our turn to give back.
