We are a collective providing and sustaining vision care in impoverished communities.

What will the funds raised be used for?
1. Our inaugural project in Uganda (March 2016)

2. Optical training supplies, vision screening devices, eyeglass frames and lenses, and other necessary optical tools

3. Tax-exempt status application fees with the IRS

4. Non-Profit registration fees in the State of Oregon

For someone in need of vision correction, it is difficult to imagine getting through even one day without your glasses or contacts, let alone going years uncorrected due to financial hardship or lack of resources in your community. Unfortunately, this is a reality for millions of people around the world.

In 2010, The World Health Organization estimated that globally, 285 million people were visually impaired. Remarkably, 80% of all visual impairment can be prevented or cured. The biggest cause of impaired vision is uncorrected refractive error (nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism). For 153 million people worldwide, simply wearing eyeglasses would solve their vision impairment. That’s exactly where Collective Clarity steps in. We are founded on the premise that all people deserve clear vision; and with your generosity, we plan to supply sustainable access to eyecare and eyewear to communities lacking the capacity and resources needed to meet this critical need.

For our first project, we are partnering with two organizations in Kampala, Uganda: The PHASE Project and International Health Sciences University. For the duration of this project, Collective Clarity aims to teach University students valuable optometric skills, while bringing vision correction to the community. The Collective will accomplish this with a twofold approach. First, by establishing a relationship with local students through comprehensive, hands-on training to conduct basic vision screenings. The training will culminate with the students assisting members of the Collective with vision clinics throughout the community during our 10-day trip in February. The vision clinics will provide an opportunity for students to practice skills learned and successfully fit up to 600 men, women and children with corrective eyewear.

Collective Clarity hopes to use this inaugural project as the beginning of a strong partnership with The PHASE Project and International Health Sciences University in serving the vision needs of Kampala’s communities.

Please help us get our non-profit organization up and running and help us prepare for the first of many outreach trips around the globe.
