Colin's Journey - Supporting the Palm Family

My name is Rachel Schmidt, and I am organizing this fundraiser to support the Palm Family of Bay City, Michigan: Kelly, Chuck, Madelynn, Colin, and Breylynn. I am friends with Palm Family.

On Monday, September 12, 2022, after five days of symptoms, Kelly and Chuck’s son, Colin, was rushed to U of M Motts with a brain tumor. His symptoms worsened throughout the week, and on Thursday, September 15th Colin underwent an emergent 7+ hour surgery to remove the tumor. At that time, we remained hopeful the tumor was benign. Colin’s surgery went well, and his team of excellent doctors got most of the tumor. Our hearts became heavy as we learned the tumor was cancerous. At this point, Colin’s family is still awaiting the pathology results. He will see an oncologist at U of M, and his team will devise a treatment plan to fight this cancer.

Colin, a sophomore at Western High School, is your typical active 15 (almost 16) year old! He loves to spend time with his family and friends. Colin loves sports; he plays ice hockey, lacrosse, and cross country. What began as a bond over being teammates on a sports team has grown into an extended family reaching multiple cities in the heart of Michigan.

Battling cancer is a burden no child or family should face. As Kelly, Chuck, Madds and Brey stand behind Colin - our community stands ready to support the Palm family. All funds raised will be donated to the Palm family to lessen the financial burden of battling Cancer. Funds will help cover expenses such as unpaid time away from work, gas, medical needs, meals, and any other unforeseen expenses.

Spiritually we lift our prayers to God and ask that his healing hands embrace Colin and his family as they embark on the next phase of this journey.

Any support for the Palm family is greatly appreciated, whether it is keeping them in your thoughts and prayers, a donation, a get well or thinking of you card or anything that lets this sweet young boy know he’s got this. Colin and his family are not alone in this battle.
