Hi, my name is Tess, and I'm fundraising for my mother, Colinda. (Now Colinda Campbell)
You see, at the young age of 58, my mother was diagnosed with cancer. She went to the hospital at the beginning of June after feeling painful lumps form on her body; that's where they confirmed she had cancer and needed more tests. Weeks passed, and they diagnosed her with stage 4 lung cancer that was terminal. This shocked the entire family since our mother was the glue that kept our family together. My mother was expected to start chemo to try and stretch out her time, but sadly, the hospital waited two weeks to get her back in and re-tested. On June 23rd is when the whole world stopped when She was diagnosed correctly with Angiosarcoma. Angiosarcoma is a rare and aggressive cancer that starts in the endothelial cells that line the walls of blood vessels or lymphatic vessels. Sadly it had already spread throughout her entire body, and she was told this was terminal.
Now my mom had just got accepted to early social security due to her underlining medical conditions and was waiting for her insurance to kick in when this horrifying news came to light. We still had hope for a fight when she went into the hospital to get her port to attempt chemo, but her health has declined so severely that she is now ineligible for chemo, and they have given her a month left. She weighs 95 pounds and is on oxygen full time. She is currently in the hospital, waiting for hospice to kick in.
We would never have guessed this would happen; sadly, we're unprepared for all the medical treatments and costs. Even worse, we have to plan for the worst to happen and plan end-of-life needs and services. If you could share this and help my family in their time of need, we would greatly appreciate it.
