3/15/19--From the Parents of Colin:  "Colin's blood counts are good enough that they let us come home to finish recovering here in Portland.  We want to say thank you again to everyone who has donated to our account.  We are beyond grateful, and feel so lucky and loved.  Because of the donations, Travis was able to miss two weeks of work to be with us in the hospital, and now he can stay home for a while to spend some quality time with Colin.  We can't believe how generous everyone was!  WE ARE NO LONGER ASKING FOR DONATIONS.  THANK YOU!!"

3/15/19:  GREAT NEWS!!!  Colin was released from Seattle Children's Hospital last night and he and his parents are now back home.  THANKS SO MUCH to everyone for their prayers and donations!!

Dear friends and family,

Our very good friends, Travis and Michaela, are in need of help for little, sweet Colin.  Here's the story...

Last September Colin, who was 9 months old at the time, went in for a routine hernia surgery and instead of being a hernia the doctors found out it was a malignant tumor.  The doctors believed they got all the cancer during the surgery, but wanted Colin to go through Chemotherapy, just to be sure.

Ever since, Colin has been going through chemo and was to continue treatments until May.  Initially, he was doing extremely well for a little baby, not yet 1 year old.  He was staying active and if you didn't know he was going through chemo, you'd think he was a perfectly healthy baby boy.  Colin turned 1 year old on January 14, 2019.

Earlier this week, Colin had complications from his latest chemo and developed a high fever and they ended up taking him to the ER at midnight.  Here's a post from Colin's Mom:  "He had a fever of 102.5 and was shaking and vomiting. His hemoglobin and platelet counts have crashed since yesterday and he is currently receiving transfusions of platelets and red blood cells. He has now been admitted and we will still be at the hospital. "

Things got worse, in fact it got so bad they had to take Colin and his Mom by ambulance from Portland to Seattle Children's Hospital because Portland didn't have the specialists who could provide the care he needs.

Here's another update from Colin's Mom: " He took a turn for the worse on Wednesday morning (3/6). He now has acute liver failure. It's believed to have been caused by one of his chemo drugs.  :-( His liver is REALLY swollen so his stomach is very distended and he is having a hard time breathing. His bloodwork is just okay after the transfusions from yesterday. His fever has gone down for the most part, so that is good. We were moved to the ICU this morning but because his condition is so serious, we have now been transferred to Seattle Children's hospital. I rode with Colin in the ambulance and Travis followed behind us with clothes and stuff... the doctor told us to prepare for being here for "weeks." They can't do much to fix his liver other than treat his symptoms and give him time for his body to try to heal itself. Beyond that, he is being potentially considered for a liver transplant in case he doesn't get better. (That's one of the reasons for coming to Seattle: this hospital has a transplant team and Portland does not.) We aren't sure yet how all that works, so we don't know if we would be eligible to be liver donors or not.
I will be here in Seattle, at the hopsital, until further notice. Travis isn't sure yet what he will do with regards to missing work for that long. "

While Colin's Dad can take Family Leave from work, it's unpaid.  I am putting this out to raise funds so that Colin's Mom and Dad can focus on being there with Colin and not have to worry about money at a time like this.

More than anything, Colin and his parents need your prayers!!  If you'd also like to give a donation to help them, that would be great too!

Thanks so much!!
