Colin Budd

To know Colin Budd was to respect him. He was unceasingly kind, thoughtful, hardworking and dedicated to his girls. His genuine and laid-back nature made him someone that put everyone around him at ease. Colin was a passionate writer and an avid sports fan, but he loved his family most of all. He was quiet, but if you got him on the right topic, he could banter like no one else! Colin was a gentle soul and strong in his opinions, always listening to other viewpoints and enjoyed learning about new perspectives. Fantasy sports, cooking and a love of music were a part of his fabric.

Colin worked for the Meridian Source for ten years. It was there that he wrote hundreds of stories highlighting our community and ultimately where he met the love of his life, Katie. Colin then moved to Synergy Credit Union and continued contributing to Lloydminster through his position there. The staff at Synergy Credit Union simply adored his soft spirit and endless professionalism. His most recent role was with Federated Co-operatives Limited.

While Colin took sports and his career very seriously, it was his role as father to Olivia that he evidently was most dedicated to. He was elated to add to his family with Katie, who is expecting their second child in March 2023.

On October 25th, Colin passed away suddenly due to cardiac arrest despite all efforts to save him. He was 40.

While financial support will never ease the pain of losing someone so special, it is our wish to support Katie, Olivia and the new baby to come.

On behalf of Colin’s family, friends, Katie and Olivia, thank you for your generosity. We know that there are heavy hearts across our City and the communities that Colin was a part of.

There is also a trust being set up at Synergy Credit Union in Katie’s name if you wish to donate there.
