Want to say a huge thank you to everyone who’s donated, shared and commented ❤️ I’ve just got of the phone to the vets and they said she’s started to respond to the drugs and tubbing, which means surgery is seeming less likely! It’s a massive relief as last night the call was very much them saying if they call in the night I need to think through for welfare reasons if I’d put her down, I’m so relieved that’s (mostly) in the past - if she keeps responding the way she is she’ll be able to have some mash soon as she’s not been allowed food for 24hrs now Everyone’s help means I should be able to cover her colic
bills, I’m so grateful for the support, I so hope she stays recovering as surgery would mean raising 4-6k! Thank you ❤️

Hi there, thank you for clicking on this, my mare, who has been with me since a foal, has been collicing, I am a student and without help will have to put her down.
Her name is Tinker, which suits her to a tee. She's been the biggest part of my life for 13 years. I have had the most amazing time with her, this year she's come into her own, doing our first advanced medium, going XC and having a blast, making 2020, despite lockdowns, the best year yet.
Any donation I am incredibly grateful for, if you can spare £1 it would be a great help. The funds will help me get her the procedures she needs and give her the treatment she deserves after. I couldn't imagine riding, training and competing without her, she's made me the rider I am today and it would break my heart to have to say goodbye this early.

Timeline
Tuesday 10th November - 9pm
She wasn't quite herself, eating and drinking as well as passing droppings but just seems really uncomfortable and tired, I also found her lying down that evening which I never do and she didn't whinny at my either for hay, there wasn't enough symptoms to justify me calling the vets so instead I spent the night with her.
Wednesday 11th November - 1am
I gave her a fair amount of hay which she ate and seemed to settle and become more interested in food, I was releved and she was appearing to get better, early that morning, 7am I gave her some warm mash to get some liquid into her and hopefully settle her stomach, she ate this happily.
Wednesday 11th November - 8am
She lay down again and started to look worse and at 9am she started pawing and trying to lay down, when she started pawing I immediately phoned the vets.
Wednesday 11th November - 9;30am
Vet came out and by then tinker was very uncomfortable, trying to lay down on hard ground and kept looking at her tummy, the vet gave her Bute, relaxers for her stomach and performed a rectal exam, her bowl felt displaced. On top of this her stomach was quite quiet, They told me to check on her in 1/2 hours when the sedation wears off, not to give her any food and if she's feeling better, lunge her to help.
Wednesday 11th November - 11;30am
She looked better so I lunged her lightly, she was passing wind and her stomach was making more noise and I was starting to be hopeful, 15m in she started to drag me with her head on the floor, she was kicking her stomach and swishing her tail, I called the vets immediately and they said to bring her in.
Wednesday 11th November - 12;30pm
We load tinker, and take her to the vets, we arrived there and had to get her unloaded as quick as possible as she was trying to go down in the trailer, once she got out and was walking she calmed down again so I could fill in the paperwork and hand over the passport and background.
Wednesday 11th November - 4pm
They rang me saying they're not sure what has caused it and after doing rectal exam, scans and tubes down the front end they cant find anything out of the ordinary, her bloods, heart rate and temperature seemed normal but she was in a lot of pain they put her on stronger pain meds and said to me that they'll tube her and wait.
Wednesday 11th November - 9pm
At the moment, she's getting tubed every 2 hours and she has a gastric tube in. The vets are waiting for a response, either her getting a lot more pain or starting to be comfortable without the painkillers, I hope it is a turn for the best or it'll be a very hard decision for me :( Surgery ranges from 4-6k but they've warned me about the following costs of recovery and potential infection. I am so overwhelmed with the support I have had and I am praying its an easy recovery.
Thursday 12th November - 10;30am
The best news I could've got, tinker has started to react to the tubbing and drugs and it looks like surgery wont be an option, she'll stop being tubed and come off the pain relief meds.
Thursday 12th November - 2pm
Tinker is off pain medication and hasn't been tubed since 3am, she hasn't coliced and will soon be allowed sloppy mash! I hope the food doesn't set it off again so I can have my girl home - if its plain sailing from here you guys have meant I should be able to pay the vet bills, transport and recovery.
