I'm hoping to raise some funds on behalf of my sister Colette. I'm hoping to raise £6,000 which is roughly half of what's needed.
For people who don't know her, Colette has severe endometriosis. She's had several surgeries already and tried every treatment on offer through the NHS.
She has suffered for years (decades) but pushed on through so many struggles and has been an absolute trooper through many surgeries, hospital trips, medical procedures and unfortunately the medical misogyny, gaslighting and general dismissal of women within the medical systems.
⚠️ This is the warning for any squimish people to skip this next paragraph as this is where I'll try to bullet point what is currently going on with her body after the specialist appointment that went through her MRI results...
-Womb fused to bowel on left
-Womb fused to Ureta (possibly all the way up to her kidney)
-Both Ovaries twisted and stuck to the back of the Womb
-Multiple cysts on both left and right ovary
-Unknown growth on right ovary (not obviously a cyst but possibly a cyst, they can't tell, so she's trying not to overthink that)
-Clear deposits of Endo in Recto vaginal space
-Thickening of Nerves and Ligaments in left of pelvis, which suggests Deep Infiltrating Endo in Pelvic structures.
-Extensive patches of Adenomyosis
That's what I can remember from our post appointment discussion.
Now she's at the point of needing a hysterectomy and having her ovaries removed. This will cost approximately £12,000.
She loves her job and is doing everything in her power to continue working. This means she is looking at going for private surgery as the current pain levels and the wait times on the nhs are proving to be yet another problem and barrier she has to overcome.
Her mobility is seriously affected and she is in so much constant pain she is currently using a wheelchair to clutch onto some independence however, lifting the chair in/out of the car is difficult so she usually needs help to go out anyway therefore it's not the solution we hoped it would be for her.
Colette does so much for other people. She is a very caring, compassionate and empathetic person and is always one of the first people to offer help if she's able.
I'm hoping that people would love the opportunity to help her. No matter how much or little they can afford I know every penny will mean a great deal to her & she will appreciate it with all of her heart.
Do not feel any pressure to give financial help if you are not in a position to do so (we know the struggles all too well) but please would you share the page to spread the word to reach as many people as possible.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. (A very concerned and loving sister).
