Cole's finances: Thanks to the strong support from so many, including First Nations bands and the Cedars Christian School community, we've nearly met our initial goal of $4,900 to purchase plane tickets , lodging, meals etc... Now that Cole is headed to Italy, he has the opportunity to train with Team Canada for worlds (Lower mainland and Quebec). This increases his costs by $2500 for a total of $7,400 that gets him the elite training he needs to do his best! Questions? My name is Cole Abou-Tibbett, I am a 17 year old First Nation man and my heritage is Kaska Dene. I was raised on the land near my grandfather’s trap line located near the Dease River in Northern BC. During the summer I enjoy hunting, fishing and learning about my culture. I currently am living in Prince George B.C where I attend school and avidly train in the sport of Taekwondo.
I am a grade 12 student at Cedars Christian School as well as a second degree black belt in Taekwondo. I was first introduced to the sport when I was 8 years old and since then I have been in over 15 tournaments across Canada. In every tournament I always have brought medals back home. Since I started Taekwondo it has been my dream to represent Canada at the World Taekwondo Championships.
This past November I had the chance to compete against the top competitors in Canada to qualify for a chance to compete at the World Championships for Taekwondo. I won first place in my weight division which means I am going to represent Canada in the 2015 World Championships in Jesolo, Italy from May 27th to the 31st.
Being in this sport has given me the chance to compete over international waters against some of the greatest athletes in the world. As a youth I intend to be a role model for the youth in Prince George and every community across Canada, so that they may see that with dedication and discipline their dreams in sports can take flight.
Accomplishing my dream of representing Canada at the Taekwondo World Championships is an expensive proposition. Therefore I am humbly asking for your help in sponsoring me. Thank you for reading this and considering my request.
