Coleen Church Scholarship Fund

This Scholarship Fund was inspired by the life of Coleen Church, who passed on Feb. 16, 2021, and her community of Hana. Founded by her Church ‘Ohana, its purpose is to celebrate her life and the lives of all our loved ones by encouraging the students of Hana High School to further their education after graduation.

This annual scholarship will benefit Hana High School graduates, helping them pay for a vocational certificate or undergraduate degree. 

With donations raised here and from other efforts, we have awarded a total of $10,500 in scholarships to Hana High School graduates since May 2021!

Please continue to donate in honor of my Mother Coleen Church, in memory of your loved one, or just because you love Hana and want to help our graduates succeed in life. Any donation size is greatly appreciated!

The Coleen Church Scholarship Fund has two goals:

We aim to encourage young adults of Hana to continue their education after graduation and practice being positive members of their community.

We offer our Hana community an outlet to honor their loved ones by sharing their story and donating in their memory.

Coleen's Story

Coleen Church was a native Hawaiian, born and raised in Maui, Hawai’i, who resided in Hana for over 46 years. She was a beloved teacher at Hana High & Elementary School and an active community member. 

Coleen embodied the following attributes and values. She was Courageous while facing a debilitating autoimmune disease, smiled at life with Optimism, Loved her family fiercely, and always practiced Empathy for others. Coleen was also Enthusiastic about Nature. 

She was and always will be an inspiration to her family, friends, and community.
