Cole Henshaw's fight with NMO
Donation protected
Cole's life was changed on July 8th, 2020. It started as a headache that turned into blindness in his left eye, unsteadiness of standing, admitted into the hospital for over a week receiving IV medications. He was first diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and after going to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville TN he was diagnosed with a very rare disease called NMO. Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorder (NMO) it is a central nervous system disorder that affects the eye nerves (optic neuritis) and the spinal cord (myelitis). It occurs when your body's immune system reacts against its own cells in the central nervous system & in the optic nerves and spinal cord. Neuromyelitis Optica may cause blindness in one or both eyes, weakness or paralysis in the legs or arms, painful spasms, loss of sensation, uncontrollable vomiting and hiccups, from spinal cord damage. Neuromyelitis Optica flare-ups may be reversible, but can be severe enough to cause permanent visual loss and problems with walking. Cole and his family believe with the studies and new research being done everyday that there will be a cure but as of right now the treatment is infusion therapy. Cole is not able to go to work yet and needs all the support he can get. Any financial donations will go towards Coles medical bills, Travel Expenses to Nashville TN and his stay there for when he receives his treatments, medication that he will have to have daily. We also would love for everyone's prayers for Cole he is a wonderful, kind hearted soul that needs all the love and support from his family and Friends.
