Cole is a vibrant, kind, and deeply loved member of our friend-group. Shortly after marrying their wife Kaila in 2021, their turbulent health journey began in 2022. They are now 38 years old, and earlier this year they received devastating news: after all the multiple surgeries, radiation, infections, and ongoing medical complications, doctors have told Cole that their brain tumours are now terminal and considered "terminal brain disease". They have been given approximately 6–12 months to live.
Cole and their partner, Kaila, have been navigating this reality with so much courage, but the day-to-day challenges are becoming overwhelming. Cole can no longer work as a mental health nurse, due to intensive symptoms and daily medical needs, and their Employment Insurance will end soon. At the same time, Kaila is doing everything she can to support them emotionally, physically, and financially while also trying to manage work and the grinding grief of watching the person she loves decline.
This fundraiser is to help take some of that weight off. Donations will help cover:
Daily living expenses while Cole can’t work
Transportation (Cole can no longer drive)
Time off work for Kaila to care for Cole
End-of-life planning and support
Petcare
Therapy/Grief Counselling
A Vow Renewal Ceremony
Monthly Medication costs ($400+/month)
Cole deserves to spend their remaining time with dignity, comfort, and the ability to focus on the people they love — not in financial stress.
If you’re able to contribute, share, or send support in any form, it means more than you know. Thank you for helping Cole and Kaila navigate an impossible chapter with as much care and compassion as possible.
