Cole Joslyn Family Support
Donation protected
Friends and Family of Cole Joslyn are working together to raise funds to help his family get through difficult times.
Cole came down with pneumonia-like symptoms in November, and after several rounds of antibiotics with no improvements and two thoracentesis procedures (removing fluid from the pleural space around his left lung), the doctors detected signs of cancer in the pleural space.
Biopsies determined that cancer began in his colon and has traveled to the pleural space around his left lung. The diagnosis is Stage IV colon cancer, as it has begun to spread. The initial treatment plan is four to six months of chemotherapy and then reassessment. The disease and treatment are preventing him from working and require frequent trips to Phoenix for treatment.
Since Cole has only been in his position as an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at NAU for a year and a half, he has already exhausted his sick leave and cannot draw on long-term disability until August.
Funds raised will allow him to maintain health insurance for his family, cover expenses while on leave, and pay for travel to the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, AZ for treatment. The $25k goal will cover 6 months of expected expenses.
We are hoping that your support for this GoFundMe campaign will help the family get through these difficult times and will help to alleviate some of the financial stress associated with Cole's tragic situation.
