Cole Brandt - Celebration of Life Fund

Cole had his last assessment yesterday. It is with deep regret I update you all that at 3:50pm on 2/10/23 Cole Brandt was pronounced brain dead. After deep reflection of the type of child Cole has always been, Nicole & Tyler made the brave & selfless decision to Give Of Life Cole’s organs. At this time Cole continues on life support surrounded by family during this process. Last night a match was found for Cole’s heart, a 9 year old little girl. Cole’s parents like to think that’s Cole’s girlfriend since he wasn’t really allowed to have one. All other organs have also been matched. We have changed the name of the fundraiser to Cole’s Celebration of Life Fund. It is The Brandt’s wishes to remember Cole the way he was - funny, giving, loving & happy! At this time we ask for continued prayers for Nicole, Tyler, Carter & little Layne. For strength, healing & peace. We continue to thank all of you that have shared, prayed & donated.

2/9/23 Update ** 

Today Cole had a brain assessment that is considered consistent with brain death. When Cole was in cardiac arrest, his brain was not getting enough oxygen causing brainstem hemorrhage. Cole’s doctors believe he suffered an acute severe asthma attack (status asthmaticus) which did not respond to his normal treatments. At this time, the damage to his brain appears to be irreversible. This is a very hard time for the Brandt family as they navigate the next 24 hours which will include a last round of testing before Cole is declared brain dead. Please continue to pray for Cole. For strength for his parents, brother & his little sister. Pray for all of Cole’s family, friends, classmates & teachers.

2/9/23 UPDATE**

Cole has not yet woke up. He is being surrounded by his family & getting lots of Mom cuddles. Layne, Cole’s little sister was able to see him yesterday for the first time since Monday & they did hand prints together. Cole’s sodium levels are still elevated but other than that there is no medical update to provide. Please continue to pray for Cole & his family & share their story. On February 6, 2023, 9 year old Cole suffered cardiac arrest triggered by an asthma attack. After CPR was administered by his mother & then EMTs for over 40 minutes, Cole was transported to LGH. A decision was made to send Cole with a respiratory team to Hershey Medical Center via Life Lion helicopter. Later that night, a head CT revealed Cole suffered a severe brain injury caused from lack of oxygen. Cole’s parents have been prepared by doctors of the possibility of brain death. He is currently off of all sedation but has not woke up. A mechanical ventilator is breathing for Cole. Family & friends have not lost hope! We are praying for a miracle! Having a child in critical condition is something most of us never want to imagine. Along with emotional stress comes financial stress as well. We are asking for any and all donations to help the Brandt family & also help with medical expenses towards this tragic event.
