Yvonne Bethell, Secretary of Coldstream Fire Brigade – 13110 is organizing this fundraiser on behalf of The Trustee for Country Fire Authority & Brigades Donations Fund.

Funds raised from this Go Fund Me campaign are required to upgrade the Coldstream Fire Station and vehicles to meet the growing needs of the area and the safety and training of local Fire Brigade members.

The Coldstream Fire Brigade area is located some 45 Km from Melbourne in the Shire of Yarra Ranges. In excess of 30 kilometres of major highways pass through the area along Maroondah,  Melba and Warburton Highways as well as a township of 500+ homes and an extensive farming/winery area.

The Country Fire Authority has called for tenders to build a new fire station at Coldstream.
CFA will fund most of this project with the brigade having to find approximately $150,000 to complete it.
Coldstream Fire Brigade has given $56,500 to CFA towards the build to cover an extension to the meeting room to have it the same as the current meeting room.

Larger items to be funded by the Brigade are Rear Shed (35,000) to house the brigade owned Ultra-Light (4th appliance), Solar Power system including battery power storage (35,000) Security System CCTV system ($40,000), IT system including central data storage ($2,500), ceiling clothes line and electric clothes dryer (2,200), printer/scanner (5,000), replacement folding tables and chairs (4,500) as well as a number of other items .

Any amount in excess of requirements for the new Fire station will be used towards the upgrade and replacement of the current brigade owned pumper.

Since 1962 Coldstream Fire Brigade has raised funds for several different appliances including 4 tankers, 3 equipment vans and funded and built the current brigade owned pumper which is due to be replaced in 2 to 5 years.

Brigade members built the current original Fire Station in 1962 with funds raised locally. In 1993, an amenities building comprising a meeting room, kitchen, toilets and storage area was built by the members with approximately a third of the funds supplied by CFA, the remainder funded by the Brigade

In the past, members have raised funds by conducting various activities locally, including intersection collections, raffles, recipe book sales, assisting at functions, to name a few.

At present, due to the Covid-19 distancing restrictions, the members are unable to pursue the usual activities and are now seeking donations through Go Fund Me.
