Cold Water and Hot Dogs!
Donation protected
Over this winter I will be attempting the Jedi Polar Bear Challenge in aid of Islay Dog Rescue .
This charity, based in Ayrshire rescues dogs which from the UK and abroad who are at risk of being put to sleep in other shelters. They work to asses them, make sure they are healthy, neuter them and find them loving homes, taking everyone who wants to adopt on a case by case basis.
The challenge involves swimming 3km each month between November and undertaking 10 specified swims under the International Ice Swimming Association which means, a swimming costume, swimming cap and goggles - no neoprene allowed!
The named swims are:
Swim 1 - 1500 metres at 9.00 degrees or less
Swim 2 -2000 metres at 9.00 degrees or less
Swim 3 -1250 metres at 8.00 degrees or less
Swim 4 -1750 metres at 8.00 degrees or less
Swim 5 - 1000 metres at 7.00 degrees or less
Swim 6 -1500 metres at 7.00 degrees or less
Swim 7 -750 metres at 6.00 degrees or less
Swim 8 -1250 metres at 6.00 degrees or less
Swim 9 - 450 metres at 5.00 degrees or
Swim 10 - 1000 metres at 5.00 degrees or less
I have no idea if I will manage it. It's a much tougher challenge than last year, but I'll give it my best shot. You can follow my progress on Instagram @swimsandstuff
Your support will make a real difference to this small charity and the work they are able to do.
Thank you!
