Cold Nights ... Warm Hearts

Hello Friends and Neighbors,

As many of you are aware, there are several members of our community who are currently unhoused. Given the extremely frigid temperatures and lack of suitable accommodations, they are at risk of life-threatening exposure to the elements.

It's why I'm reaching out in hopes of obtaining your support for amassing a modest reserve to cover the cost of hotel accommodations or other forms of refuge in the face of inclement weather or other untenable environmental conditions.

A "Code Blue" alert is typically issued when temperatures are forecasted to dip below freezing, which would trigger a plan of action – namely securing a hotel or other affordable, appropriate, overnight shelter, and most likely a means of transportation.

This approach is a temporary response, as the ideal would be to see folks transition out of their desperate circumstances altogether. But I’m sure you feel as I do that non-action is not an option.

Still, this request is being issued privately due it's sensitive nature. Please reach out to me directly with any questions, considerations, or concerns. We could also use help with transport or other logistics if a monetary donation isn't possible. And do feel free to share the request with anyone you think may respond with generosity and discretion. That said, I’m hoping we’ll all be inspired to take swift action.
