Hi, my name is Mano Paneras and I am a multidisciplinary artist, and filmmaker working also as a Tattoo-Artist, DJ and Bartender.

I graduated from Athens School of Fine Arts(MA) in 2016 and in October 2021 I decided to be a filmmaker as it combines my various interests and career experiences.

ABOUT THE MOVIE

Cold Meals is about a person with ADHD in a quest for the ideal job while doing odd jobs to make ends meet until finally they realise that they want to become a filmmaker. In the film, music, rhythm and scenes will be changing spontaneously to express the chaotic thoughts of a person with ADHD.

The story is a composition of various autobiographical elements and visual translations of my own poems into image and sound. Dreams, artwork, memories will result in an audiovisual collage that alternates between past and present.

The title refers to a person that is focused on their survival, and at the same time totally disoriented with a million other things to do.

I hope to inspire people struggling with ADHD to pursue their creativity despite the condition and its symptoms: impulsiveness, disorganization, poor time-management skills and low focus. I have ADHD myself and I want to offer the perspective of how easily a mind can lose focus, how thoughts get distracted and how tasks that are simple for a neurotypical person become a struggle for a neurodivergent one.

There were two incentives for making this film. It is a very personal project but also, I feel that by visually presenting the chaotic thoughts of a person with ADHD, I will help visualise the struggles such a person faces daily.

Most of the movie is already shot in black and white, digitally. Fragments of past memories are shot shot in color, analogue film, using color super 8 film. The visual inconsistency between the two types of film will highlight the chaotic element. This feature will also be heightened by the use of different genres of music, such as IDM, Post-Punk, Trip-Hop, Grindcore, and Punk.

The lead character is portrayed by Evi Chroni, an emerging Greek actress and director.

BUDGET

I have already covered the largest bulk of the production expenses by myself and also with the help of a kickstarter campaign that I launched in October of 2022.

So far the movie costed me 5.500 £ that they were spend in Equipment, Buying and developing Super 8 Films, Music Score, Transportation and Food cost.

Because this is a passion project, the majority of contributors worked n' will work without payment (as a personal favour to the director).

The sound engineer, the music composer and the animator are the only exceptions.

What it needs to be done for the movie to be ready is :

Editing,

the shooting of the last 4 scenes,

a 3D animation video: 400 £,

the restoration of a crushed external hard drive : 300£

the developing of the last super 8 film : 84 £

The total cost is 784, and money that I am raising are 900£ in case of taxation and the extra costs for the last day of shootings.
