My name is Colby Bowers and I am a retired Air Force medic and wounded warrior. I was exposed to multiple blast injuries during my deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan where I suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). I have suffered from balance issues, cognitive deficits and other ailments but was fortunate enough to receive the proper care to overcome my challenges. Participating in this research is my way of giving back.

I am raising money to help pay for the rest of my trip to Mt Everest Base Camp as part of a research project to study the effects of altitude on TBI patients and to test new cutting edge technology to diagnosis TBI's in the field sooner so patients get the necessary treatment sooner. The results from this research will go to helping not just Veterans but civilians as well as this research can potentially lead to new treatment protocols adopted by the medical community. 

The research grants do not cover all the travel expenses for the 10 wounded warriors that have been selected to join this research.  Any proceeds collected over my goal will go to help other research participants pay for their travel as well.  

3 years ago, I walked with the assistance of a cane, couldn't hold my son for any fear of falling, difficulty in driving and taking care of myself. I have come a long ways from my former self and this trip besides helping with the research will help me prove to myself that I can overcome difficulties of life and still accomplish great feats!
