My name is Cohl Schultz. I am a wrestler. I have competed in wrestling basically my entire life. That cute kid up there is me. Now I am a little bigger (I wrestle 220's) and have much bigger hair.
I earned the honor to represent the USA at the Cadet Pan Am Championships in Guadalajara, Mexico the first of July. The Pan Am Championships are the Championships of the Americas with athletes from North, Central and South America competing (41 countries will be represented). It is a very exciting opportunity.
This year I won the honor to represent Colorado on the Colorado National Wrestling Team. I get to travel with the team all over the country competing as a representitlve for my state.
The next big tournament that I will be competing at after Pan Am is the ASICS/VAUGHAN Junior & Cadet National Wrestling Championships for Freestyle and Greco-Roman Wrestling in Fargo, ND. The tournament is held at North Dakota State University from July 17 to the 26th. I will compete against wrestlers from all 50 states at the largest and one of the most elite tournaments in the world.
College coaches attend this event to evaluate future talent. Placing at Fargo is extremely tough and a huge accomplishment that coaches don't take lightly, in other words it is kind of a big deal. All wrestlers who finish in the top eight of their weight class are awared All-American status. My goal is to win this tournament and eventually a gold medal Team USA.
My family and I set up this Gofundme account to request donations of any amount to help cover the expenses for all the trips and competitions. Each trip for the Colorado National team averages out to a little over $1,000 for just me (no family members included). To participate in the Pan Am Championships it is $2200, again for just me. Any amount of donation is greatly appreciated as it helps offset the costs of travel and expenses incurred.
Thank you for your support!
