The River Complex Fire and The Great Loss of Coffee Creek Ranch
As most of you know, our family suffered a great loss on September 7th, in a fire storm that destroyed our family Ranch. In just a matter of minutes, everything changed, and our family lost everything. If you’ve ever been to Coffee Creek Ranch, you know its more than just a “Ranch.” It’s more than just a family home on a plot of land. It was so much more. It was a family business that every family member worked for at one point or another. Teaching each of us good work ethic, humility and responsibility , and connected us with staff and guests from around the world. It was also a Resort that allowed families to escape to and relax and have fun and enjoy life away from a screen or work. Families connected with each other on hayrides, breakfast rides, around the bon fire, over extremely delicious meals, dancing to the Rattlesnakes as they took us on a journey through the 70’s, line dancing, karaoke, skeet shooting, archery, fishing, overnight pack trips to the Historical Hodges Cabin (which also perished in the River Complex Fire) - AND SO MUCH MORE. This Ranch was magical to anyone who stayed there and even worked there.
We are so very thankful that everyone made it out safely because we are able to acknowledge that the outcome could have been drastically different. In that same breath, we also acknowledge that we lost the life blood of our family. And the matriarch of our family, Ruth Hartman, lost everything. She literally escaped with only the clothes she was wearing, her phone, and her beloved dog, General Rom.
While we continue to process this great loss, we are so thankful for all of the memories we get to cherish for a lifetime - as a family and as a business. While we continue to support each other as we adjust to this reality, we are asking for donations to assist and support Ruth and the Ranch for immediate and long term needs.
