Cody’s Medical Battle – Please Help Support Our Family

Donation protected
Our sweet Cody has been in the hospital all week fighting a serious and unexpected medical battle. His mom has had to miss work, and the family has been traveling back and forth to Texas Children’s Hospital in The Woodlands while also caring for the other kids at home. We are creating this GoFundMe to help with gas, food, travel expenses, and anything needed during this difficult time.

Below is a full timeline of what Cody has been going through:

First Update – Initial Diagnosis

Thank you all so much for the prayers — we truly feel them. ❤️
Cody was admitted to Texas Children’s Hospital in The Woodlands after two ER visits due to a high fever, uncontrollable shaking, and vomiting. Doctors immediately suspected sepsis based on his physical exam.

After hours of testing — CT scan, X-rays, ultrasounds, bloodwork, and multiple specialist reviews — they confirmed that Cody has an MSSA staph infection in his blood and bilateral asymptomatic bacterial pneumonia.

He was started on strong antibiotics right away. Some of his numbers slowly began to improve, but he still needed several more days of treatment. We also battled a 103.1° fever, and ice packs were used to help bring it down. We continue to wait on repeat cultures to make sure the staph infection is responding.

Second Update – Moved to ICU

Cody was transferred to the ICU due to very low platelet levels, and he received a blood transfusion. He was also placed on high-flow oxygen because he was struggling to take deep breaths. Doctors added more antibiotics to prevent his body from going into toxic shock syndrome.

We know many people want to visit, but because he is in ICU, he cannot have visitors right now unless approved.
Some of his numbers did start improving, which was a blessing, but he still needs time and close monitoring. Please keep the prayers coming — we appreciate every one.

Third Update – A Hard Night but Small Improvements

Cody remained in the ICU after a very tough night. They attempted several times to place a catheter, but he was eventually able to pee on his own, which was a good sign. His oxygen levels were lowered this morning, showing slow improvement.

They are giving him magnesium and sodium through IV to correct low levels, and he did spike another fever overnight that required Tylenol. Doctors repeated scans today to check his pneumonia and the staph infection.

Please continue praying that his body keeps responding and that the scans show real progress.

Fourth Update – Finally Some Hope

Today we finally got a bit of relief — the doctor told us we can breathe a little easier because Cody is headed in the right direction.

Here’s where he stands now:
1. He is showing big improvement from last night.
2. He may be moved back to a regular room soon depending on updated labs.
3. They are working to get him off high-flow oxygen.
4. They’re testing his urine to rule out a UTI.
5. He should be able to start eating this afternoon.
6. His pneumonia is still present; today’s X-ray is cloudy due to fluid buildup, so he is receiving Lasix to help remove fluid from his lungs.
7. Infectious disease reported that the staph is no longer growing, which is huge progress. They will continue daily testing.

How You Can Help

This week has been extremely hard—physically, emotionally, and financially. Cody’s mom has missed work, and our family is covering food, gas, and travel back and forth to the hospital. Any amount, big or small, will truly help lighten the load while we focus on Cody’s healing.

Most importantly, please continue to pray for full recovery and complete healing.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. ❤️
