Hello! I’m Cody, a 34-year-old out and proud transgender queer man. I have the privilege of working as a teaching assistant in a public school in central North Carolina, supporting children with disabilities. Currently, I’m pursuing my teaching license in special education as a graduate student at North Carolina Central University.

I am reaching out to share my journey toward achieving a significant personal milestone: gender-affirming chest masculinization surgery, often referred to as "top surgery." Even though I am as frugal as a camel, unfortunately, my health insurance covers only a small portion of the costs, making it challenging for me to fund this essential step on my voyage towards identifying with my body fully.

This surgery represents a long-held hope of mine—a chance to align my soul with my physical self. For years, I have navigated life while grappling with gender dysphoria, which has sometimes overshadowed my aspirations and affected my mental and physical well-being, leading to periods of depression and anxiety. Since starting Testosterone in 2013, I have seen remarkable improvements in my mental health and self-acceptance, reinforcing my determination to pursue this surgery.

I am excited to share that my surgery is scheduled for December 11th, 2024. I recognize that I will need support during this journey. Asking for help has not come easily to me, as I often prefer to rely on my own efforts. I prefer to do the helping. However, I have come to understand that this is a moment where I truly need assistance.

As a teaching assistant, my income does not fully cover the growing expenses associated with this surgery. The financial burden can feel overwhelming, and I would be deeply grateful for any support you can offer.
