Hi, my name is Candi and I’m just trying to help out one the absolute best mommas I know! Not only does she work full-time, but she’s also a full-time advocate for her son, Cody.
Cody’s diagnosis is not singular, but plural…..lots of plural! Kelly also has a little side business where she makes the cutest earrings to help pay for Cody’s needs. Kelly is the kind of person that always checks on others…often daily…no matter what’s happening in her own hectic life! If you know their family, you know what a blessing Micheal, Kelly and Cody are to others.
My goal is to help relieve some stress from missed days of work, travel back and forth to OKC and increased meds that insurance doesn’t cover now that he’s home.
please consider just $5. No amount is too small ❤️
now I’m including some info from Kelly to explain all that has happened over the past week:
A call from the school nurse to tell Dad Cody wasn’t feeling well turned in to him being flown to OKC for critical care.
Cody got to come home today. We do not know
what the root cause of all of this is. Is it the chronic sinusitis, severe GERD, severe constipation, something yet to be found? Maybe a perfect storm of everything? We just do not know.
What we do know is he was super sick, he was
septic, and he went into respiratory failure. Things happened and intubation was necessary. Because of his unstable condition he had to be med flighted to OU childrens. We weren't sure he was going to make it through. He was so sick.
While he was sedated and on ventilator they
were able to clean his bowels out, give his
esophagus a rest, get some needed scans and let his body rest and heal.
Once the tube was able to come out, he was
taken off the sedation meds and began
withdrawing. Tremors, sick to his stomach, violent outbursts, unable to be still, the whole 9 yards.
Then suddenly it all stopped and normal returned.
I'm not sure coming home today was the best
idea, but we are all very happy to be home.
We have so many people to thank for so many
things. Everyone who prayed, checked in daily on our updates, reached out to get updates, check on us and just remind us we aren't in this alone. My work family who covered all the things I dropped while I was gone, checked on us, came by to see us and never made me feel like I had to hurry and get back.
My students who made cards for Cody,
Michael and I, more than one made me belly laugh!
Michael's circle, who always makes sure Cody
knows he's part of that circle too. My family for
stepping up in every single way we ask for and
needed. Suki and kids for loving our kiddo like their own, for worrying that Michael and I were taking care of ourselves and allowing us time to do so.
We also want to thank every single person who
helped us monetarily. We still have a very long road ahead. We will be making frequent trips to OKC for appointments, more tests, procedures etc. It is overwhelming to know that no matter our need, our circle is huge. Trust me when I say, we knew we had love in our lives but you guys showed up and showed out in every single way. Whatever the need was that we posted, you guys were there. Whenever there was a need that we hadn't thought about, you guys were there. We will never be able to fully repay you all, but we will definitely be trying.
❤️ the Lewis family
