Cody's Heart Needs Our Help and Care

Hi, my name is Rachel I'm Cody's girlfriend. I'm hoping to raise some money for Cody's recovery and everyday expenses like bills, food and future surgeries needed while he is unable to attend work. It all started when he was born with multiple heart defects and had open heart surgery at a week old. He has lived with these challenges his whole life and everything was going good with normal visits and checkups with his cardiologist. We always knew he would need another major surgery in the future; just didn't know when and thought it would be scheduled. On Sunday January 19th Cody was experiencing chest pain and was rushed to the ER. His heart rate was elevated to 228 bpm, they got him stable but his heart rate still wasn't getting below 120 bpm, they weren't equipped to deal with a this kind of situation so they decided to admit him to a hospital which specializes in cardiology. Thank God they did!! Shortly after Cody arrived at this hospital he went into cardiac arrest and coded. They revived him after 8 minutes and rushed him to the cardiac ICU. In the ICU he has received multiple surgeries and was put on several machines to keep him alive and help his heart function correctly. He is doing much better at this time but his heart is still very weak. They have now moved him from the cardiac ICU to PCU cardiac recovery while his body recovers from this traumatic experience. At this time we're still waiting on the doctors to let us know what is the next step to be taken. It's going to be a long road ahead with many more surgeries, procedures, and follow-up appointments. Cody is not going to be able to work at this time and we are not sure if he'll be able to go back. We don't want him to worry about money or anything besides getting better and staying positive. We greatly appreciate all the support and love and prayers!! It helps him be stronger and more positive in this very difficult time. Anything will help! Thank you again, Rachel

2/4/2025 Update-

Cody has been released from the hospital to recover at home. He will be wearing a medical life vest (a defibrillator vest that monitors his heart and will send an electrical shock if it detects any life threatening abnormalities). His heart and body needs to recover for a few weeks so he can hopefully be strong enough to move forward with more surgeries.
