Cody's Cutting His Hair for Candlelighters

I can’t think of a better reason for a haircut than to support two important charities. So, after four years of the “long hair, don’t care” look, and on March 23, 2024, it’s time to cut it off!

I am asking for monetary donations to help support the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Support Group of Manitoba. Any amount helps make a difference. My cut hair will be donated to Angel Hair for Kids.

Last year my brother, Kevin, and sister-in-law, Hayley, were told their daughter, Ruby, had cancer. Ruby was three years old when she was diagnosed with AML Leukemia in January 2023. Through successful treatment and her own resilience, she returned home in Autumn 2023 and was deemed cancer free. Medication, testing, and hospital visits continue to confirm Ruby remains cancer free.

Ruby is ray of sunshine, always smiling and full of laughs. This sunny disposition continued throughout her treatment and time in hospital. Ruby is now four years old, she loves dogs, dinosaurs, Halloween, and Spider-Man.
For more information on Ruby and her parents please visit Cancer Care Manitoba’s website at https://www.cancercarefdn.mb.ca/hayley-kevin/.

During Ruby’s time in hospital, the family was supported immensely by the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Support Group. Ruby was in hospital for months on end. During this time the Candlelighters provided hot (not hospital) food each week they were in hospital, paid for their monthly parking pass, provided gift cards to help with finances while Ruby’s parents missed work, provided support, and much more.

My niece, Ruby, lost all her hair during the chemotherapy process, this happens to hundreds of children each year in Canada. I hope to help in a small way by donating my hair to Angel Hair for Kids. This charity helps by making wigs at no cost for children experiencing hair loss due to cancer, alopecia, and other medical causes. I hope that my hair can help a child’s confidence during a difficult time in their life.

Thank you in advance for any donation you are able to give. Your support means the world to me and will help many families.
