Cody & Hartley Snyder - Larry Mair Memorial

Donation protected

Cody and Holly Snyder from Granada, MN have 4 children, Rian (18), Will (15), Coral (13) and Hartley (4). Cody was diagnosed with focal segmental glomeruloscelerosis and stage 5 renal failure in spring of 2019. At the time of being diagnosed Cody worked at Wiechman pig company. Cody shortly had to end employment as he had to start many appointments and dialysis at home. Holly (Codys wife) works for the US postal service of Blue Earth, MN. Holly had to take many days off to assist Cody when he had to be in and out of the hospital. Rian (Cody and Hollys oldest) decided to help assist the family by gaining employment at Trimont Nursing home and Stueber Farms. Rian also was a help around the household with the younger siblings and family pets.

Cody was an avid local hunter and fisherman in the Martin and Faribault counties. Cody enjoyed goose hunting and ice fishing over the years, but was unable to do what he loved with being sick and out of work.

Along with Cody, Cody’s Father Mark (born and raised in Elmore, MN), Grandfather Art (Born and raised in Elmore, MN) and Uncle Scott (Born and raised in Elmore, MN) were all diagnosed with renal kidney disease. Cody’s grandpa passed away in 2008. Cody’s Father was diagnosed in 2000. Paula (Cody’s mom), born and raised in Blue Earth, MN would come home every day after working her full-time job at Avery Weigh Tronix to do dialysis on Mark. Mark passed away in 2015. Cody’s uncle Scott was fortunate enough to receive a Kidney transplant that his body thankfully has accepted and continues to do well.

After a year and a half of being out of work and in and out of the hospital Cody was very fortunate to receive a call that the Mayo of Rochester had found the (what we all hoped for) the perfect match. Cody received his perfect matching Kidney on March 31st from Tennessee in the paired donation program. Codys new kidney took right away and continues to hold strong. Cody and his wife Holly had to stay most of March near the Mayo hospital in Rochester and discharge due to follow up appointments.

After their return home and after most of the healing process Cody was fortunate enough to get a job at the local bait shop of Winnnebago, MN. This allowed Cody to get out of the house but start slow and back in the working environment. Cody then felt good enough to start a new career at Winnebago Manufacturing of Blue Earth, MN.

Cody had only been at his new job a few weeks when an unfortunate accident happened at their home in Granada. Their youngest, Hartley had fallen into the fire pit with hot coals from a fire from the previous night. Hartley burned 15% of her body and had to stay HCMC of Minneapolis, MN in the burn unit. Cody and Holly had to be out of work during this time. Hartley was recently released to do bandage changes at home and local physical therapy. Cody has now started a new job (as the fumes were hard on his body and new kidney) at advanced drainage solutions. Holly will continue to be out of work as she will have to transport Hartley back and forth to HCMC at least twice a week. Holly has exceeded her FMLA and PTO from being off work during the Kidney transplant for Cody and stay with Hartley.
