- Update 5-26-24 Things are going well. PT has been going well for Cody. He has been meeting all of their goals. He is healing well and will hopefully be moved to DuBois Hospital for inpatient physical therapy this week. He will still have follow ups in Pitt for a while but it would be awesome to have him so much closer to home.
- We wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who has been keeping our family in your thoughts and have been helping us. He is making good progress but we definitely still have a very long road back to "normal". We appreciate the outpouring of love from our families, friends, neighbors, and community.
- Update 5/24/24 - Cody is doing big things! He has taken a couple of "steps". He can't put weight on his left side so it's kind of a shuffle/hop but it's a big deal! He is also sitting in a recliner now instead of being stuck in bed day. The doctors said it will help him regain his strength. We are hoping to get him moved much closer to home in the coming week to a rehab facility.
- Update 5/22/24 - Cody started his day with low blood pressure and needing 2 bags of blood transfused but ended his day by standing! The physical therapists had to help get him standing and he used a walker for balance but he stood on his own for a solid 3 minutes. His next big PT goal is to take one single step. They are going to try tomorrow or Friday. He was also able to visit with Nita, Connor, & Liam today ♥️
- Update 5/21/24 - We are at the no news it good news phase of things finally. Cody is resting and healing. He was able to sit up briefly today (with help of course) which is great improvement. He was able to video chat tonight with his wife during Levi's little league game so he could watch and cheer him on. Tomorrow is a big day, Nita, Connor, and Liam are all going to be able to go see him. Cody is so excited to see all the kids. He's the best dad and uncle ever and we miss him ♥️♥️
- Update 5/20/24 - Cody had his hip/pelvic surgery today. Lot's of plates, screws, and rods. He may never be able to go through a metal detector again (lol) but the doctors feel confident he will walk again. He just got out of surgery at 8:30. Laura and Mom are waiting to see him now. As far as we know, this was his last surgery for now. He will eventually need dental surgery but that's an issue for another time. He's non weight bearing for 8 weeks but now it's time to rest and heal. We are not currently sure how much longer he will be be in Pitt. We're obviously hoping to move him closer at some point. Thank you all for everything . We appreciate you. ♥️-Nikki
- Update 5/19/24 - Cody was able to video chat with his kids and nephews today. They are all very ready to be able to go visit him. Uneventful day of resting for Cody. Tomorrow is a big day. Hip/Pelvis surgery tomorrow so keep him in your thoughts.
- Update 5/18/24 - nothing significant going on today. No news is good news. Tomorrow should be a quiet day as well. Cody's next and most major surgery will be Monday (as of right now) to repair his hip and pelvis. He has been allowed to start eating again finally and is happy about that!
- Update : we are so humbled and thankful to everyone who has reached out. The last 24 hours have been a little whirlwind. Cody has had two surgeries so far. The first was to repair damage to his knee where it was impaled by the car and to insert rods to begin the process of pulling his femur down out of his pelvic region. The second was to set his broken wrist. He has a third surgery coming next week to rebuild/repair his hip using metal plates, rods, and pins. On a very positive note he is alert and doing much better than yesterday. He has also regained the ability to wiggle his left toes (which is awesome and very promising). Thank you all for you continued support ♥️ Nikki, Laura, & Jan and our families
- On the morning of May 16th, 2024 my brother Cody Armanini was in a very bad car accident. He was life flighted from Penn Highlands DuBois to Presbyterian in Pitt. He has multiple broken ribs, a broken wrist, broken pelvis, hip, knee, and facial bones. He will need many extensive surgeries in the coming weeks and is looking at a very long stay in Pitt followed by a significant amount of time in a rehab facility to regain his ability to walk. He will also eventually need some significant dent work. He does have insurance but it only goes so far and my sister in law is off work at this point to be in Pitt with him. Any money collected will be used towards medical bills and costs associated to traveling to Pittsburgh many times in the coming weeks.
