Cody and Megan Rebuild

Hey everyone, we're Cody and Megan:

On August 30, 2023, the unthinkable happened to us in the late afternoon. We walked outside to see water rising on all sides of our house, and rising quickly from all the rain the recent hurricane brought.

When they say floods happen in the blink of an eye, they were right. We had 10 minutes to get our two dogs, our cat, and some belongings out of the house. By the time we were ready to leave, the water was already up to our stomachs and quickly entering our home.

The next morning when we came to see the damage, we had to wade through 36-40 inches of water just to get to our front door, which is about how much water also entered our home throughout the night. We lost almost all of our personal belongings, all our appliances, and all of our furniture.

In the last few weeks, with the help of amazing family and friends, we have ripped our house down to its bones to prevent mold. We are now starting the rebuilding process, without the help of insurance.

We have leaned heavy into our faith during this time and know that God will get us through this, as well as our family, friends, and even strangers with huge hearts. We've made this GoFundMe for those who feel led to help us during this time, or just to leave some encouraging words for us.

We can't thank everyone enough that have already helped us through whether that be through meals, labor, donations, or just being someone to talk to.
