Code Blue Saratoga
Code Blue Saratoga is a restriction-free emergency homeless shelter in downtown Saratoga Springs. Each winter an average of 34 individuals each night have a safe place to lay their head and a warm meal when the winter temperature drops below freezing.
The program was started in 2013 after a local woman, known to be homeless, froze to death on the loading dock of the Saratoga Senior Center. Leaders from the City of Saratoga, local non-profit agencies and concerned citizens organized the effort to ensure the safety of our homeless brothers and sisters.
The program is now led by Shelters of Saratoga and objectively moves program participants from the streets into more sustainable housing through its continuum of homeless care.
Code Blue primarily relies on community contributions to keep its doors open to those seeking the safety and warmth of the shelter with limited support from government sources.
Its main fundraiser, Blue Needs You 8K Run , will occur April 15, 2017. We are hoping you will help us meet our overall fundraising goal of $40,000. In addition to race participants and sponsors; we are asking individuals to contribute to the mission and help us spread the word but more importantly, the love for our friends’ in-need.
Will you contribute a few dollars? $5, $10, $25, or $100? The value of safety is priceless. 100% of your contribution goes directly to the program.
All donations are tax deductible. Code Blue Saratoga is a program of Shelters of Saratoga, a 501(c)3 organization: ID 14-1758441.
Gratefully,
Code Blue Saratoga
