Coco's Fight against Leptospirosis

Donation protected
Hello everyone,

Beginning of February 12th, 2025, Coco began the fight for her life and now, we need your help.

A Rundown on her Journey:
2/12: Coco began to show signs of vomiting and became lethargic not wanting to eat or drink water. Alarmed, I had brought her to the vet immediately. The doctor had given her nausea medication/a blood test and told us to keep a close monitor on her.
2/14: Awaiting the blood test results, we found that she was severely dehydrated and needed to be seen again to for some SQ fluids. We were relieved to hear that the results were negative with minor concerns, but nothing was alarming. She was stable. She was recovering.
2/24: She began to vomit again, with 3 days of constipation and lethargy. We began to realize she had lost a lot of weight and was unable to eat, drink, or have the energy to play. This day we found out she had developed a heart murmur and was declining rapidly. We did more testing/X-ray, however, no diagnosis or cause was still given to us.
2/26: This day, her condition had worsen. We once again brought her back, seeing no improvement in the previous visits. After further examination, the veterinarian had discussed the possibility of a kidney disease/infection due to the symptoms and signs. We had conducted a retest of her blood, in order to determine her status. I was then given the news that if she had a kidney infection she would likely be able to recover given the correct treatment. If it was a kidney disease, we may had to let her go. I will never forget coming out of the examination room that day, knowing that the next time I come in, I may not walk back out with my best friend.
2/27: Coming back to the vet that day, my heart pounded out of my chest, awaiting the test results. It finally came to a conclusion that she has Stage 4 kidney disease. The next steps in her journey was to make her comfortable and give her treatment to live as long as she can. As we arrived home, Coco had a seismic episode (vestibular disease). She began to whimper and scream out of fear, the whole 15 minutes until we were able to get her proper care. She fought so hard, and was able to receive care in the ER overnight for hospitalization.
2/28: Today, we found out that she had tested positive for leptospirosis, a bacterial infection in dogs that attacks the kidneys, liver, and other vital organs. Now with a cause, she has a chance of survival with the correct treatment and medication. However, this journey has become very costly and we are asking for your help.

Coco is more than just a pet, she has impacted the lives of everyone she has met. She has constantly brought joy, laughter, and smiles to not only our family but to those around her. She is a fighter and as long as she is willing to continue this fight, we will stand with her. Every share, support, or donation of any amount will be another step forward to help bring her back home.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
