Coconut's Recovery and Vet Bills
Donation protected
Our sweet lil kitty Coconut ("Coco") has had a very tough two weeks. One day she seemed perfectly fine and healthy and the next- it was as if she was on her deathbed. Coco is normally a very food-motivated, playful, and vocal cat who loves to wake myself and my husband in the morning for plays and food; but once she fell sick, she was an entirely different cat.
Coco stopped eating, drinking, and was very lethargic for almost 3 days until she became incredibly dehydrated- resulting in hospitalization. For the first two days, we thought we were going to lose our girl. Our vets ran every test you could imagine- including all sorts of bloodwork, X-Rays, Ultrasounds, and other screenings. Through all these tests, our vets began treating her, and she started looking better.
Eventually, her prognosis was widdled down to Feline Infection Peritonitis (FIP). FIP is an incurable and fatal disease, essentially a death sentence; and the only treatment available is a daily injection that is purchased through a Facebook group called FIP Warriors 5.0. Unfortunately, since this is an experimental treatment, it is not covered by insurance.
She has been going through this treatment since April 4th, and we have a long road ahead- about 74 more days of this. Our vet has been amazing and has been doing everything to treat her dehydration, pain, anemia, skin infection, and other issues. It seems as if every day another issue arises!
Coco is at home with us but still struggling, especially with her most recent skin infection. She is wearing a full-body bandaging/cast to help it heal, which causes a lot of discomfort and trouble moving. Seeing her in this ongoing condition is beginning to leave us hopeless and heartbroken.
Long story short (too late!), our sweet baby Coconut- who we've only had for 8 months- is struggling, but we are not ready to give up on her yet. Our vet bills are crazy, so any small contribution would be a gift and a miracle.
Any additional contributions beyond our goal will be donated to FIP research.
