Cocoa’s long in the tooth

Donation protected
Cocoa is a determined Florida White that has... well, gotten a little long in the tooth!

TL;DR: In 2017, he got a bone infection that required 3 separate surgeries to remove the dead tissue and quarterly tooth trims after that. Outside of his regular care, he went into GI stasis twice and, finally, kidney failure. I’m sorry to say that this GoFundMe is now in memory of Cocoa, who is resting much more peacefully now.

In 2017, he got a bone infection that killed a lot of the bone tissue on the left side of his jaw. Pictured below are MRIs that helped to show what happened, but also that show how much of it was missing.

Sad nekked face:

The emergency vet visit and resulting three surgeries ended with cleaning the dead tissue and keeping most of his jaw, though some of it is held together with a little wire. Going forth as the bionic bunny, he's recovered quite well, but he doesn't grind his teeth down on that side like he should.

In 2018, he had to return to the vet for his appetite dropping, and it was discovered that he had developed tooth spurs on his molars that caused sores on his tongue and mouth. Here's a cute picture to take your mind of that nastiness!

After discovering this, it was determined that he will need quarterly tooth trims. For rabbits, this means once a year blood testing, anesthesia, grinding, critical care, pain killer, and junk food for his trouble. (The funds for apples and banana chips will not be included in the total bills.) It adds up as follows:

- $308 for initial visit/tooth grinding
- $731 for emergency vet and blood tests
- $735 for exotic vet and CT scan
- $1339 for surgery one
- $772 for surgery two
- $393 for surgery three
- $232 for diagnosis and tooth trim
- $338 for follow up and tooth trim
- $290 for quarterly tooth trim
- $1650 for emergency vet visit and overnight
- $812 for transfer to regular vet, care, and overnight
- $270 for additional tooth trim
++ Pet insurance: $460
++ Pet insurance: $243
++ Other fundraising efforts: $935 (art/jewelry/crochet)

As of 3/2/2020, this is now a memorial fund. While his teeth were managed, he suddenly crashed into kidney failure and was not able to recover. Any funds donated to this cause will help me manage the remaining debt for his care, and either donations or art requests are greatly appreciated.
