Cocoa's Heart Failure Treatment
Donation protected
My name is Abby and I'm fundraising to cover vet bills for my dog Cocoa. On Sat Jan 27, I woke up to Cocoa having rapid and labored breathing. I took her to the emergency vet and they found she was in the early stages of heart failure. The vet recommended hospitalizing her to stabilize her. They put her on three medications: Pimobendan, Furosemide, and Sildenafil. She immediately turned a corner and she was only hospitalized overnight. I was able to bring her home Sunday morning, but she still has a long road ahead. She is not herself and I'm hoping she is able to get back to her normal self. The vet recommended follow-ups every three weeks for blood work and an echocardiogram to see if she also has pulmonary hypertension. She will also be on the three medications for the remainder of her life. Most dogs who have went into heart failure do well on medication for about 6-12 months and while this isn't a whole lot of time, I need every moment I can get with her. Cocoa has gotten me through the loss of her two fur-brothers Biscuit and Depoe, but more than anything, she was there when my mom passed. She feels like the last little piece I have left of my life and family with my mom. I know I have to prepare myself to lose her, but I just wasn't able to let her go yet. I absolutely hate asking for help, I want to be able to do everything on my own, but life has been hard lately. Any amount donated will go towards paying off Cocoa's medical bills and her future vet visits and medication. Her vet bill from the emergency vet was over $3,000. Thank you for all the love and support.
