Cocoa Beach Cares... Feeding the Fighters
This page is being used to raise funds
for what we believe will benefit
our healthcare community as well as
local restaurants in the Cocoa Beach
and Cape Canaveral area. As Cape
Canaveral Hospital prepares for their
fight against COVID-19, we would like
to be prepared to help them in their
battle. The funds in this account will
be used to purchase meals and healthy
snacks to help sustain them while at
work as well as boost their morale. To
feed these medical professionals, their
support staff and our local first
responders, we will be partnering with
a number of local restaurants that are
currently closed due to the Governor's
mandate. To date, the restaurants
willing and able to participate include:
Long Doggers, NOSH, 4th Street
Filling Station, Tiny Turtle, and Coastal
Produce. These restaurants will be
providing individually packed meals, as
the hospital will not be accepting
"family style" shared dishes. We expect
that many of the staff will be exhausted,
hungry and dehydrated. We are hoping
that the meals provided will help
them feel supported by our community.
Helping to coordinate this effort will
be Kenne Wells, Owner of Coastal
Produce and Executive Director of
Cocoa Beach Main Street and Chris
Kern at Cape Canaveral Hospital who
will oversee food distribution to the
staff on site. As the situation
progresses, we will be providing
information and pictures documenting
how we are managing your generous
donations. This will include the
restaurants preparing food, volunteer
delivery team, and hospital staff
benefiting from the effort. Again, this
fund is being set up in advance of the
critical need that is anticipated. One
hundred percent of your donation,
small or large, will help care for those
on the front lines of this battle as well
as help support local businesses during
this challenging time.
