It was discovered back in January of this year that my friends' beloved, Coco, had a cancerous tumor growth on her backside. This large, softball sized, hard mass was noticed by them back in December shortly after she received 2 of her yearly vaccinations. They said her mass developed as a result of something called injection site sarcoma which is very rare in dogs, it's an adverse reaction to a vaccination shot. The veterinarian spoke with the vaccine company who in turn offered to pay a $1500 good faith payment to help with initial financial burdens.During this time, a layoff and other financial hardship made it more and more difficult to keep up with household expenses. Coco's surgery was performed in March of this year during the start of the global Coronavirus pandemic which also meant her owners could not be inside with her for any of her follow up post-operative visits. During her healing time as the picture shows she developed 2 allergic reactions from one of the medications prescribed to help with her healing period. This caused much debt, making it harder for them to keep up with monthly expenses and any credit card bills.
Back in August of this year they attempted to ask the vaccine company, Zoetis, for more financial assistance and went so far as to file a consumer complaint case with the NC Dept. of Justice. When Zoetis finally responded back to their case, they simply denied any further financial assistance and refused to take any responsibility for what Coco had been through. Coco's owners have accumulated 6k dollars all together from start to finish with getting Coco back to good health, and they hope and pray she will remain Cancer free the rest of her life. The interest free care credit card bill is about to expire in November and we are trying to find a way to avoid additional interest charges along with what they already are struggling to afford. Any help in the way of a donation to Coco's Go Fund Me page, big or small, will help their family in so many ways. I thank you all for taking the time to read this and if you have it in your heart and are able to help, THEY will forever be thankful and Grateful!
