Cochlear implant for Pedro

Hi I am Jorge Arenas. Thanks to your kindness and generosity we were able to finance my son Pedro"s cochlear implant last October 12th. As I mentioned earlier.,Pedro is 28 years old, he is a young professional, a marathon runner, and a kind and charming son and brother of 3. He was born with profound bilateral hearing loss, which we discovered when he was two months old. Ever since, he has had to use hearing aids, attended language therapy, and with an enormous and devoted effort, he has developed the skills to read lips.

Now that he has had its cochlear implant, he enters into the new face of attending therapies in order to accommodate his new hearing possibilities to his brain processing. It is like learning a new language and the plan is for him to have between 9 and 12 months of weekly therapy sessions. The goal is that at some point he will be able to fully follow a conversation, hear long distance voices, talk over the phone, and improve his quality of life, everything without the need of reading lips. We are following up the original fundraiser with this new purpose of helping him finance his therapy process over this period of time.
